I’m excited to say that 2009 was a great year for Shutter Photo.  We of course have a lot of great things planned for 2010, but before we roll full-force into the new year, we wanted to wrap up a few things.  Throughout the course of the last week of 2009 and the first week of 2010, we’re breaking format a little to bring you stories specifically reviewing this past year.  Here are just some of the highlights of 2009:

  • Shutter Photo @ Flickr (SP @ Flickr) was introduced in May of this year based on feedback from our readers.  The group is growing slowly, but steadily.  We now have 21 confirmed members with a total of 234 images in the photo pool (as of this writing).  If you’re not already a member, now’s the time to get on board.  We plan to review the best of the pool over the next several days, so look out for that article.
  • Shutter Photo celebrated it’s one-year anniversary this past February (February 21, in fact).  With it came a new look…our third design to date, and it seems to be fairly well received.  Aside from a few minor tweaks, our current design has served us quite well.  Speaking of…
  • Shutter Photo Ribbon Contest – the banner image at the top of our pages are up for grabs to the person who wins the First Shutter Photo Ribbon Contest.  If you would like your work displayed (and credited) on our home page, consider entering the contest.  For rules, see the official announcement.
  • This post is the 363rd post since Shutter Photo opened it’s doors.  I’m proud to say that we are still finding great sources of inspiration and great tips to share with you all.  We are, of course, always looking for article contributions.  So if you feel you have something to share, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
  • Finally…in preparation for the new year, we’re working on an article about photo projects that you may begin or shall continue into the new year.  As a lead-up to that, we’re asking that you share with us your projects so that we can write about them in the weeks to come.  This is a great opportunity to get the word out about your projects:  Photo 365, 52 weeks, portrait-a-day, 50mm shots and other related projects welcome.  Please post a response to our request, Calling All New Years Project Websites.
