Pascal Renoux’s Artphotoblog

Posted on 24 April 2009 by D. Travis North

Pascal Renoux is an incredible self-taught French Photographer who’s strengths are many. Not least of which is his eye for other great photographic works. His blog, Artphotoblog, is his channel through which he shares his findings – literally a list of great photographers, including some examples of their work, that he feels is worth sharing with the rest of the world. I have a lot of respect for Renoux’s work, and especially his opinion, so I have been following his blog for a while now.

Posting is a little unpredictable. Some weeks, Renoux will post the works of two or three photographers. On other occasions, it may be two or three weeks between posts. I think of this as quality control. Without deadlines, Renoux is able to make sure that every photographer highlighted is worth seeing. And trust me, you’ll want to visit every single site that gets posted.

There is one aspect of the site that I find very interesting: Renoux posts no descriptions or opinions. It’s assumed that if he’s posting the work of a photographer, that photographer has earned Renoux’s approval. There isn’t really a need for any further description. I am left to make my own opinions, and I find that very appealing. On the other hand, I do wish the posts were categorized a little better. Currently, artists are listed only by their country of origin. But I would like to browse by genre: Portrait, Landscape, Architecture, General, and so on. But add the site to your feed and there’s no reason to miss a single one of his posts moving forward.
