Build Your Own Camera – Literally

0

We have all played in the online stores that allow us to create our own configurations – be it with computers or other forms of electronics.  The closest we get in the camera world is to buy a camera body and select our own specific lens.  While it isn’t quite what we’d really want, Urban Outfitters has a SuperHeadz Plamodel DIY 35mm Camera for sale that is literally a build-your-own camera.

The camera uses 35mm film, uses a plastic lens and is generally considered a fairly mediocre quality film camera.  But that’s the point, isn’t it?  Every shot appears artistic – and you don’t have to tell anyone that you never intended the poor color saturation or the bizarre focus or the vignetting.

But the real appeal of this camera is that it helps you to better understand exactly how a camera works.  For $28, it might be a worthwhile project.  And you may get some interesting shots as well.
