The Lazy Rule of Thirds

Posted on 03 May 2009 by D. Travis North

I read a fairly eye opening article written by Jake Garn at Whimsical Fashion Photography:  The Lazy Rule of Thirds.  Apprently, the rule, as it was taught to me and countless other people, isn’t really about dividing a photo into thirds.  Instead, the rule of proportions is really about the Golden Mean.  The article is interesting, well written and has a ton of great examples.  It’s certainly worth a read.
