Vanity Fair: 2008 Hitchcock Portfolio

Posted on 02 March 2008 by D. Travis North

cusl01_hitchcock0803.jpg In a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock and his incredible movie portfolio, Vanity Fair sponsored photo sessions with famous Hollywood actors and actresses to generate new movie posters for some of his more famous movies. Included in this feature article are Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem, Naomi Watts, Keira Knightley, Emile Hirsch, Gwyneth Paltrow, Casey Affleck, Jodie Foster, Seth Rogen and many more. Photography credits are attributed to Norman Jean Ro, Julian Broad, Art Streiber and Mark Seliger - all of which are exceptional portrait photographers.

The Vanity Fair Hitchcock Tribute is not only a fun example of portrait photography, but it is also a great reminder of how much photography can relate to pop-culture. Think about it, how much of your world can be associated with images of products, paparazzi photos of the famous and so on? If you really think hard, so much of our life is defined by photography. Knowing that, aren’t you more encouraged to explore your chosen art form?

On Vanity Fair’s website, you can view a Slideshow of the finished works. You can also view the Making of… video. The special March Hollywood Issue is available on shelves now.
